Announcing the New Level 4.2 FLEX Speaker Wires

Our new Level 4.2 FLEX Speaker Wires have been years in the making. They finally fill the gap between Level 3.1 and Level 5. They are the best possible Copper wire offering before jumping up to our expensive ACElectrum™ Silver/Gold alloy wire metallurgy used in our Level 5 and Level 6 speaker wires.

Over the past year, we have shipped them to quite a number of lucky customers who have asked, "Do you have anything new in the works", and have showed them in multiple demo rooms at AXPONA in Chicago, Pacific Audiofest in Seattle, New York Audio Show in Manhattan, and coming soon to Capital Audiofest in DC.

The new Level 4.2 FLEX Speaker Wires are a stereo pair of very heavy 7.5 gauge wire runs which will enable single or bi-wiring wiring a pair of speakers. Just as our Level 3.1 Speaker Wires are a doubled-up build of our Level 2.1 Speaker Wires, these are essentially a tripled-up build of them. But, instead of using three #12 gauge wires per connection, nine smaller gauge wires are used to build the equivalent. The smaller gauge wires provide sonic benefits and allows for much greater cable flexibility.

Holding with Anticables original greatness, no jacketing is used and the pure copper wire is insulated (and hermetically sealed to prevent oxidation), with a very thin yet durable red coating. There is no thick jacketing that blurs the music with a lot of bad sounding dielectric effect distortion. They are a significant step up from our most popular Level 3.1 speaker wires, in that they have 50% more free electrons available to move the music from your amp to your speakers, and yet are also more flexible. Instead of using three #12 gauge wires per connection, the nine smaller and more flexible Anticables wires are used to create this massive build. If they were jacketed like typical cables, they would not sound as good, and they would be your typical unmanageably large snake sized cables.

As expected, these new speaker wires are built using our Reduced Dislocation Density (RDD™) wire. From our 6 month research project with Material Scientist Dr. Douglas Stauffer, and collaborating with the US facility that draws the wire to our specification, we improved the wire drawing process to greatly reduce the dislocation density of the copper. Learn more about our Reduced Dislocation Density (RDD™) wire HERE.

The Level 4.2 FLEX Speaker Wires are neutral, transparent, resolving, dynamic, fully bodied, non-hyped, have very little sonic signature (especially in the highs where most cables announce themselves), and have a purity of tone.

Standard-Bi-Wire and True-Bi-Wire configurations are also available by simply selecting those options. Customers can select their choice of terminations and the lengths to each speaker. Because of the very low dielectric effect distortion design, running different lengths has no sonic impact when kept within a 2:1 or less length difference. Customers can save money when buying a shorter length to the closer speaker. All eighteen wires are hand woven together to make each beautiful looking, flexible and easy to manage wire run.

  • OK to run different lengths to each speaker
  • Oxygen Free Anticables Copper (not ETP copper magnet winding wire)
  • Four termination options to choose from
  • Our top Copper Reference tier, yet still affordable
  • Starts at only $150 per speaker
  • Additional lengths costs only $30/foot per speaker
  • Single wire, Standard-Bi-Wire, or True-Bi-Wire options available
  • Capable of standing with the best cables money can buy
  • 30 day risk free trial
  • Made to order in USA one pair at a time in Lake Elmo MN (Let us get started with your pair today)

Sound Improvements over Level 3.1 Speaker Wires:

50% more free electrons available allows:

  • Additional bass weight, authority, musical body, and definition
  • Greater musical dynamic impact which makes the music sound more alive
  • Greater harmonic structure heard throughout the entire frequency spectrum

Built using smaller gauge wires provides:

  • The soundstage to remain open and expansive even during very complicated passages
  • Greater top-end extension without any unnatural hyped-up sound
  • High resolution without brightness
  • Very little sonic signature, especially in the high frequencies where cables typically show themselves
  • Increased clarity of downward dynamics (hear deeper into the recording)
  • Instruments sound more present in space

See and hear the new Level 4.2 FLEX Speaker Wires in action in this video that Audiophile Junkie posted of our room with LTA and Spatial Audio Labs at Pacific Audiofest. The spacious, resolving, dynamic, lively, open, natural sound can easily be heard in the video. The unsolicited comments left below the video shows that people were very impresses and considered this of the best sound at the show.

Optional Terminations Available (click on above image thumbnails to view)

  • New excellent sounding Oxygen Free Heavy Duty Solid Copper Spades which are .525" wide and fit standard 1/4" (6mm) and 5/16" (8mm) Binding posts
  • Banana BFA style Z-Plugs made of Gold Plated Beryllium Copper (not Brass), add $10/four
  • Medium Sized Copper Spades (.430" wide) for Barrier Strip Screw Terminals (older ARC amps and Vandersteen speakers)
  • Vintage Copper Spades (.320" wide) for small screw terminals on 60's amps (Scott, Fisher, Dynaco, McIntosh, etc.)

Choose from these three different configuration options:

Single Wired: These will have 2 terminations at the amp end and 2 terminations at the speaker end for each speaker wire run. All 18 wires are hand woven together from amp end to speaker end for a full 7.5 gauge wire connection from each amp binding post to each speaker binding post. Use with speakers that have only two binding posts, or with a set of our Jumpers on speakers with four binding posts.

Standard-Bi-Wired: These will have 2 terminations at the amp end and 4 terminations at the speaker end for each speaker wire run. All 18 wires are hand woven together from the amp end down the length of the wire run. Then at the speaker end the 9 (+) wires and the 9 (-) wires are split in a 2:1 ratio. The smaller 3 + 3 wire split provides a 12 gauge connection for the upper binding posts feeding the higher frequencies. The larger 6 + 6 wire split provides a heavier 9 gauge connection for the lower binding posts feeding bass.

True-Bi-Wired: These will also have 2 terminations at the amp end and 4 terminations at the speaker end for each speaker wire run. They are similar to Standard-Bi-Wiring, except that the split happens right away at the amplifier end. The 3 + 3 wires for the top binding posts and the 6 + 6 wires for the bottom binding posts are hand woven together separate from each other so they are physically apart and magnetically disconnected from each other. It will look as if you are running two pairs of speaker wires. Keeping each pair truly separate from each other is recommended by Richard Vandersteen for his Bi-wireable speakers.
